Pres. Obama, has cut the ribbon to inaugurate the structure before thousands of spectators who gathered to witness the historic opening.
A museum alone cannot solve the ills of a country still struggling to overcome a legacy of racial prejudice, according to the President.
After years of legislation, the bill was finally approved by the Congress, paving the way for the museum to be built.
The bill was signed into law by Republican President George W. Bush in 2003. It’s a development that has delighted African-Americans.
